Amazigh Immersion Retreat 🌄: Hiking, Yoga, and Berber Culture over 6 Days Between Mountains 🏞️ and Atlantic Coast 🌊

Embark on an extraordinary adventure, a full week of authentic exploration at the heart of Berber culture. Discover a tailor-made retreat designed for wonder and relaxation in the rural region of Agadir, combining unforgettable hikes, rejuvenating yoga sessions, and unique experiences off the beaten path, away from tourist trails.

The very essence of this retreat is designed to offer you a rich, relaxing, stimulating, and simply extraordinary adventure! Upon your arrival and at the end of this week, you will be accommodated in a charming villa or riad, depending on availability, in the coastal village of Tamraght. Both locations offer warmth and relaxation, with breathtaking sea views 🌅 and spacious areas ideal for yoga practice 🧘.

The program begins with four days of trekking, either itinerant or in a star pattern around the accommodation (depending on the season), through the majestic mountains of Ida Outanane. Traverse reddish, dusty, and rocky paths, cross lush oases, palm groves, and picturesque canyons. Enjoy refreshing swims in natural rock pools 🏞️ before exploring traditional Amazigh villages. Youssef, originally from one of these villages, will share his knowledge of lifestyle, customs, and the surrounding nature. Nights will be spent in comfortable lodges, carefully selected for their authenticity and in support of the local community.

The fourth day marks the departure from the mountains to the ocean! The following day is dedicated to rest and relaxation by the sea, punctuated by a yin yoga session.

The last day is a true cultural immersion: after a morning yoga session, we will visit a beautiful botanical garden where you will learn to prepare a traditional tagine and make Moroccan tea with Youssef. Explore the Berber museum and an argan oil cooperative run by women, a unique opportunity to dive even deeper into Moroccan Amazigh culture.

Conclude this memorable week with a farewell dinner featuring a sumptuous couscous prepared by Fatima, Youssef's sister.

Accommodations are divided between comfortable mountain lodges for the first part of the stay and, for the second part, an exceptional villa or riad. We collaborate with high-quality and carefully selected hotel partners.

This retreat is not available between June 15th and September 15th due to high temperatures. The best period to participate in the Amazigh Week is from mid-October to mid-April.

The typical week

The retreat is split in 2 parts. First one in the mountains and last one in the Atlantic coast.

  • First night

    - Aiport transfert.
    - Arriving in the mountain lodge for the next 4 nights.

  • Day one to four

    - Around 10 kilometers hiking by day, cut short by a swimming break in natural pools.
    - Lunches will be shared in our special local hosts’ family homes with tasty homemade traditional meals or picnics in the nature.
    - Nights spent in comfortable lodges where we know the owners personally.
    - Yoga every day with stunning mountain view to restore and help your body to prepare for the next days hike.
    - At the end of the fourth day we will move toward the ocean to the villa in Tamraght and have a good night of sleep after a delicious dinner.

  • Day five

    - Start the day by a morning yoga session.
    - After a good breakfast, day on the beach with a generous picnic for lunch.
    - Possibility to try surfing.
    - Hammam session on the afternoon to scrub of the dirt from the mountains.
    - For finish, nice evening and dinner at the villa.

  • Last Day

    - Yoga in the morning.
    - Visit a beautiful botanic garden where you will also learn to cook the traditional tajine and make the moroccan tea with Youssef.
    - Visit to Berber museum and an argan oil women cooperative.
    - Last day dinner party with a magnificent couscous made by Fatima, Youssef’s sister.
